Loved Lost Sheep

Loved Lost Sheep

Do you ever feel like a scared lost sheep,
thrown into religious systems that put you to sleep?

Where there are still empty holes inside every soul,
and temptations or regrets that keep taking their toll?

How about all the things we are trained not to speak;
to avoid offenses, we are taught to be too meek.

And now we've become a generation of lies,
simply being spoon-fed Jesus from the skies.

Does no one still crave the great mystery
of why Jesus was sent to die for you and me?

For faith is more than Christ’s salvation we keep,
it’s a deeper relationship that we are called to seek.

For the phrase that states “Just accept Jesus Christ”,
might as well be tempting form of the Antichrist.

God’s source of connection isn’t just on Sunday,
or the thought, “Ill be good and go to heaven anyway”.

So now, we sheep, must arise and acknowledge:
don’t be content with religion’s shallow homage.

For do you still think God is just an antique,
that won’t actually answer when it’s wisdom you seek?

Yes, He is eager to make His glory known,
but to those who humbly ask,
is His full presence shown.

So make time, hit your knees,
take your questions straight to the one who sees.

For your heart will soon yearn,
for that spirit-filled fire that will fiercely burn.

And what is freeing the more
is to open that Bible,
which in most places,
just lays there misinterpreted or idle;

With words that can change the blackest of hearts,
toward the movement of love that only God can impart.

Now if you ponder and question and allow words to stew,
it will soon set you free from this anxious worldview.

This relationship I speak is tried and true,
not mere fiction or fancies,
but created to feed the deepest parts of you.

So now, take heart
and arise from this sleep,
because the good Lord wants you back,
you loved lost sheep.

Thank you for reminding us that Jesus is so much more than a stale theological maxim hanging on the wall of a church looking down at those who pass by; but shows us instead is a living Person who desires to make his home in our heart amidst the clutter of our broken life (Revelation 3:20).
